compared to what? A die cutter is useful as it will cut repeated shapes time and again within close tolerances and can cut pretty much any shape in most materials. The obvious downside is that they will go blunt and have to be replaced which depending on size can be quite simple or may need a crane or fork truck. Dies for cutting metal can also be quite fragile and tend to explode if over exerted
