Scrap Booking Ideas And Cricut Machine Feedback?

I’m starting a scrap book for my son, and have drawn a complete blank on ideas. Does anyone have a good website or book or personal ideas to help get me started?
I also was looking at the Cricut machine thingy (dang infomercials!). I found it in a store for $200 (regular $300). Is it really worth spending that much money? If you have one, do you like it/use it enough to justify that much being spent on it?

I got both the Cricut (small one first) then the larger Cricut Expression.
If you don’t use it alot the small one is good, however, the big one is good if you plan on creating large posters and signs and/or kids projects, as well as scrapbooking. More recently, Provocraft created their third Cricut called Cricut Create. It’s around 200.00 (I’d rather go for the larger one that I purchased through A.C. Moore for an extra 100.00 as it includes 4 cartridges).
I’ve ended up liking the larger Cricut Expression. Then there are the accessories like the Cricut Studio Design (this helps if you have alot of cartridges). Cartridges periodically go on sale for an average of 45.00.
Check out these websites for the latest and for the best prices if JoAnns or Michaels doesn’t have the Cricut cartridges on sale.

    http://www.overstock.com (for machines)
    http://www.amazon.com (for machines)
Consider joining the yahoo group websites specifically for Cricut. You can get a wealth of information and also ask the same questions for numerous opinions and/or responses. Additionally within this group ask who offers the best prices for carts. & machines. You’ll get alot of info. there as well.
FYI: I had purchased both Cricuts at A.C. Moore Crafts Stores. If you don’t have one near you, they have a website. I paid around 159.99 for the small one. Then the big one came out. They had the best price for the Cricut Expression bundle (included the machine; mats; tools plus FOUR cartridges; ink, all for 329.00….it may be worth it because of the four cartridges). Other stores like WalMart will have it at a very low price, however, it may include one or two cartridges plus a few tools. Check out the websites for various deals and prices (especially after Christmas)
Hope this gives you some insight and hope this helps you with your choices.
