Cricut Create Electronic Cutter Review

Cricut Create Electronic Cutter

The Cricut Create is a fantastic tool for many types of crafters. It combines the portability of the original Cricut with the functionality of the Cricut Expression: it is the same size as the original Cricut, yet allows cuts from .25″ up to 11.5″ on a 6″ x 12″ cutting mat.

Since you don’t need a computer, you can easily put it on any crafting table you’re using, or carry it with you for “crafting get-togethers”.

I buy blank recycled type cards/envelopes and make my own greeting cards, and can also decorate those inexpensive recycled brown paper bag gift bags. There are very many cartridges for shapes and many for fonts, and some do both. School teachers will find a variety of cartridges very suited to the classroom. There are also cartridges with businesses in mind. You can decorate walls, canisters, make paper dolls, etc. I recently made a hunting birthday card for my son-in-law using the Camp Out cartridge. Crafters will love this machine.

The lil adhesive pads loose their stick pretty quick, but a hint to make the mats last longer is to clean them when finished and to use temporary adhesive spray used for machine embroidery to keep them sticky.

It includes an 8-way directional blade, Portrait Mode, Fit to Page Mode, Auto Fill Mode to mass produce cuts, Center Point function, and Flip function.

I used to dread pulling out my huge boxes of pictures, but now that I got this Cricut machine I look forward to scrapbooking. The hardest part of scrapbooking for me was trying to figure out how I can make each page a little unique or special. This task becomes extremely easy with the Cricut machine.

You can have the machine cut out frames, shapes, letters, and just about anything else that your heart desires. I do have to caution all the ladie out there though. You WILL get sucked into buying quite a few extra cartridges just because you have to have the Disney themes, or you have to have the animal theme, etc. The price of these cartridges can cost anywhere between $50 to $100 and can add up in a hurry! I recommend that you buy it at Costco or another store that sell the machines bundled with a few cartridges.

The machine is extremely easy to use and this is coming from someone who is not that technically proficient. I even use the machine to create gift tags and to help out my kids with their school projects. It is not just for scrapbooking by any means.

Be sure and shop around to find the best price. You won’t regret this purchase.

Unless you are into big time scrapbooking this machine is too expensive. it works well but costs too much. The mats don’t last long enough. Mine didn’t work for more than a few cuts. I use it for greeting cards and not scrapbooking. To be a good investment you’d need to use it more than I do and I bought it at a very, very good price.

If you want to keep your mats sticky don’t touch them when applying the paper and peeling the shapes, use the spatula. Aftwards use the scrapper to take the small bits off and then replace the plastic sheet you peeled off when you first got it. I got mine in May and I am stil using my first mat. It is now the end of Sept. and it is just now losing its stickiness. I use my cricut often at least 2 to 3 times a week. Hope this helps.

The cricut is a great machine, and I don’t scrapbook. I use it to make things for the preschool I work at. I can’t wait for the arrival of my new expression machine so I can make bigger and better things. A hint to make the mats last longer is to clean them when finished and to use temporary adhesive spray used for machine embroidery to keep them sticky. I would like them to come out with a Halloween cartridge though. Just a heads up…..I ordered mine from cricutoutlet.com and I have waited nearly a month and have not received it yet. Had to write several times ( and was ignored) and finally called the number on my bill before I received any service.

Yeah-its expensive. But as a woman who gets mad when thrift stores charge to much, its so worth it. I bought mine from a very popular auction website and saved about 150 bucks, so I will admit I don’t have as much as invested in it as others. It is a pricey toy-but I am a teacher and I get my money out of it. It made me love scrap booking and the cartridges are going on my wish list for xmas next year. The lil adhesive pads loose their stick pretty quick, but I cheat and use either a spray or a repositional tape to “refresh” instead of replace.
