Xyron Wishblade and “Create n Cut Plus” Software

Xyron Wishblade With Create n Cut Plus SoftwareThe Xyron Wishblade is a computer-based personal cutter and is an incredible tool for die cut-a-holics! You can cut any true type font on your computer and shapes ranging in any size from 1/2-inch to 8-inch wide and up to 39-inch long, in a variety of materials including everything from vellum and paper to vinyl and textured cardstock. In other words, with the Wishblade cutting system the possibilites are endless!

While there has been a lot of talk about how the earlier models were a bit clunky, difficult to use and didn’t really allow for that much flexibility, the new machine certainly lives up to the slogan “if you can wish it then you can cut it with the Xyron Wishblade”.

The Xyron Wishblade now comes with a new software called “Create n Cut Plus” in two versions: one for Macs and one for PCs. That makes the Wishblade compatible with windows 2000, XP, vista and Mac OS X Leopard (10.5 and earlier), a huge advantage to the earlier model;

With the standard software you have access to Print and Cut technology, drawing tools, outlines and shadows, and the ability to cut any True Type Font on your computer. In the past you could only cut proprietary fonts, but now you can use any font you have.

The Create and Cut adds further power and enhances the functionality of the Wishblade by including the ability to weld words, create outlines and shadows (with distortion) for both images and text at the click of a button, and of course the famous Auto-trace and Print & Cut feature. The Print and Cut Technology allows you to print designs to a color printer and then cut them out with your Wishblade.

Each Package Includes:

  • Wishblade Machine
  • Create and Cut Software
  • Wishblade 4.1 Software
  • One Blade pack with Pen Holder
  • One Cutting Mat
  • USB Cable and Power Cord
  • Instruction Manual and DVD

Is The Wishblade Easy To Use?

The main point brought up by many scrapbookers against the Wishblade cutting system, is that it’s not so easy to use. Lets ponder on this for while: people have very different opinions on what is “easy to use”.

While you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to use the Wishblade, some basic computer knowledge is necessary. Familiarity with vector based programs such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw is a big plus. If you are completely computer illiterate, the Wishblade is not for you and you may be better off with a Cricut.

Bottom line is, what is good for one person may not be for another. While the Wishblade is definitely worth it, don’t expect it to work all on its own. But if you want to make the initial investment to buy it and take some time and common sense to learn how to use it, than it’s really the most versatile personal cutter out there and will pay for itself sooner than you think.
